The hosts' discipline began to slip as yellows accumulated for Lobato, Várkonyi and Janković before the interval ended. Matús Bruns restored Twente's advantage in the 90th minute to make it Qarabağ FK 1-2 FC Twente.

The decisive blow came in extra time. With Qarabağ reduced to ten men following Marko Janković's red card in the 106th minute, Twente capitalised ruthlessly. Wout Weghorst added a third goal moments later, and Yacine Taha sealed the result in the 114th minute. The final scoreline of 1-4 reflected Twente's control after Janković's dismissal, which effectively ended Qarabağ's hopes of forcing a penalty shootout. The hosts could not recover from the numerical disadvantage in extra time.
