Naderi Elimina Rangers Vencendo Jablonec nos Playoffs da Conference League
Rangers claimed a hard-fought Conference League playoff victory over FK Jablonec, winning 1-0 at Ibrox to take control of their European tie. The hosts dominated possession for long stretches but found the Czech side stubborn and well-organised in defence, limiting clear-cut opportunities in the opening 45 minutes. The visitors travelled with intent to frustrate, and for much of the first half their approach threatened to keep the scoreline level heading into the break.
The breakthrough arrived in the 50th minute when Romain Naderi converted to give Rangers the lead they had threatened throughout the match. Naderi's clinical finish came at a moment when Rangers were building momentum, and it proved enough to separate the teams across the 90 minutes. FK Jablonec pressed for an equaliser but never truly threatened to breach a Rangers defence that, despite later complications, held firm under pressure.
The second half pivoted on Rangers' ability to absorb Jablonec's response while maintaining their attacking threat. What could have been a straightforward second-period performance, however, became significantly more complicated when Craig Devlin received a red card in the 74th minute. The dismissal forced Rangers to defend with 10 men for the closing stages, fundamentally altering the match's final quarter and testing their resolve severely.
Devlin's expulsion transformed the game's complexion entirely. Rangers retreated deeper into defensive shape and relied on discipline to hold out, while Jablonec sensed an opportunity and launched wave after wave of attacks seeking the leveller. The visitors' pressure mounted noticeably but Rangers' defending, bolstered by captain and centre-back resolve, remained resolute when it mattered most.
Caution was shown sparingly before the red card disrupted proceedings, with Eros Fernandez booked early for Rangers and David Neil cautioned in the 65th minute as both teams occasionally overstepped the mark. The numerical disadvantage in the final stages meant Rangers had to manage the game carefully, and they did so effectively enough to secure the victory.
This 1-0 win gives Rangers a significant advantage heading into the return leg in the Czech Republic. The away goal remains beyond FK Jablonec's reach, but the visitors will take encouragement from their resilience and their ability to create opportunities despite Rangers' dominance. For the Scottish club, the job remains unfinished, yet they have taken a commanding step toward progressing deeper into the competition.
