Lech Poznań arrasa con Thun en la paliza en los playoffs de la Europa League

Lech Poznań turned their home ground into a fortress on Wednesday night, dismantling FC Thun with ruthless efficiency in the Europa League playoff round. The Swiss visitors arrived at the Stadion Miejski with little answer to the hosts' intensity from the opening whistle, and the scoreline that followed reflected the gulf in quality between the two sides.

Piotr Wålemark opened the scoring in the tenth minute, settling the home crowd and setting the tone for what would become a relentless assault. Arjan Sayyad doubled the advantage just ten minutes later, and Wålemark struck again five minutes after that to effectively settle the contest by the quarter-hour mark. Miłość Skrzypczak extended Lech's lead to four before the interval, and though the first half ended with Lech Poznań commanding the match, the second period would prove even more punishing for Thun. Robert Murawski added a fifth goal just before half-time, and Daniel Håkans made it six early in the second half as Poznań's dominance became almost unbearable to witness.

The turning point, if one was needed beyond Lech's opening twenty minutes, arrived in the early stages of the second half. With Thun already broken by Murawski's goal, Håkans' strike on 48 minutes removed any lingering doubt about the outcome. Lech had complete control of space and possession throughout, suffocating their opponents with a combination of pressing intensity and clinical finishing that left Thun chasing shadows for 90 minutes.

Poznań's attacking flow never diminished as the match wore on, though they managed the game without excessive aggression. Thun offered minimal threat going forward and were reduced to attempting damage limitation, a task at which they largely failed. The visitors' sole yellow card came through Nicolas Reichmuth in the 50th minute, a moment of frustration reflecting their helplessness rather than any sustained period of pressure they had generated.

This demolition sends a powerful message as Lech Poznań advance to the next round with their heads held high and momentum firmly on their side. Thun, by contrast, face a difficult period of reflection after a performance that offered nothing to build on. For Poznań, a victory of this magnitude provides genuine European pedigree heading into the competition proper.
