Benfica thrash Maritimo with early strike and late flourish
Benfica went ahead early when Luis Barreiro fired past Maritimo's defence in the seventh minute. The away side controlled the match from there, though Maritimo had their chances to get back into it.
The second half remained tight until Barreiro struck again in the 71st minute, with Vasilis Pavlidis providing the assist. That goal settled the tie. Giannis Prestianni added a third in the 82nd minute to seal Benfica's 0-3 victory away from home.
