Columbus Crew went ahead in the 22nd minute when S. Rodríguez found the net. Rodríguez picked up a yellow card before the break, but Columbus held their lead at half-time.
The home side added two more goals in the closing stages. G. Tapia made it 2-0 in the 81st minute, assisted by B. Méndez, and T. Habroune sealed the 3-0 victory over Colorado Rapids in the 90th minute.
