Vitória and Grêmio served up a cagey first half with little to separate them. Grêmio picked up three yellow cards before the break, with P. Gabriel cautioned in the 36th minute and C. Pavón in the 38th. The sides went in level at the interval.

The second half saw more cards fly. C. Paulista received yellow for Grêmio in the 48th minute, the same minute Erick was booked for Vitória. Caique picked up a yellow for the home side in the 55th minute, and E. Noriega was cautioned for Grêmio in the 59th.

Vitória broke through in the 63rd minute when Renê went ahead with the assist from Mateusinho. That proved enough to settle the match, and Vitória held on for a 1-0 victory over Grêmio.
