Häcken and AIK Play Out Goalless Stalemate
BK Häcken and AIK served up a cagey contest on a summer evening in Gothenburg, with neither side willing to take unnecessary risks. The home crowd got behind their team from the start, but the visitors from Stockholm came to make life difficult in midfield. Both defences stayed resolute throughout, making this a match of few clear-cut chances and plenty of tactical discipline.
The first half yielded little in the way of goalmouth action, with AIK's J. Riveiro picking up an early caution after just 30 seconds. BK Häcken's J. Lindberg was shown yellow in the 37th minute as the hosts tried to wrestle control of the game. Neither team found a way to break the deadlock before half-time, and the scoreline remained BK Häcken 0-0 AIK at the interval.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with both sides cancelling each other out in the middle of the park. AIK's H. Matthys was cautioned in the 70th minute as the match grew increasingly scrappy. Chances remained at a premium for both BK Häcken and the visitors, and neither goalkeeper was seriously troubled down the stretch. The final whistle came with the score still locked at BK Häcken 0-0 AIK.
The draw leaves both teams searching for their next win in the Allsvenskan title race. BK Häcken will be frustrated not to have made more of their home advantage, while AIK will take a point from a difficult away assignment. Neither side could find the cutting edge required to take three points, but both will move on to their next fixture with their unbeaten records intact.
