مانتوفا أدهشت لاتسيو بفوزه خارج أرضه في كأس إيطاليا

Lazio entered the Coppa Italia Round of 64 as clear favourites against lower-league Mantova, but the visitors had other ideas. What unfolded was a disciplined defensive performance from the away side that left the home crowd frustrated and searching for answers. The opening hour yielded little of note, with neither team able to break the deadlock despite Lazio's territorial advantage.

The breakthrough came late when Fabio Ruocco finally found the back of the net in the 75th minute, giving Mantova a shock lead at the Stadio Olimpico. Rather than crumble, Mantova held firm and even extended their advantage as the match wore on, securing a 0-2 victory that will be remembered as one of the competition's great shocks this season. Lazio pressed for a way back into the contest but lacked the cutting edge to trouble Mantova's resolute rearguard.

Disciplinary issues peppered the second half as both sides grew frustrated with the rhythm of play. Lazio's Nicolò Rovella, Fdele-Bashiru and Matteo Cancellieri all received yellow cards, while Mantova's Bruno Tomašević was cautioned early on. The cards reflected the intensity but also a certain desperation creeping into Lazio's game as they hunted for an equaliser that never came.

This represents a crushing result for the Serie A side and a towering achievement for Mantova, who secured a spot in the next round with a display built on organisation and efficiency rather than flair. Lazio will need to regroup quickly, while Mantova travel home with a result that will live long in the memory of everyone connected with the club.
