Olympique Lyonnais made a strong start and went ahead in the 28th minute when F. Bacher finished with E. Nuamah providing the assist. Three minutes later, the hosts extended their lead. Z. Athekame scored the second goal with L. Openda setting him up, and Lyon looked in control at 2-0.

Auxerre pulled one back just before half-time. C. Archer scored in the 42nd minute to make it 2-1 and give the visitors hope heading into the break.

The second half saw Lyon restore their two-goal advantage. E. Nuamah added a third in the 53rd minute, assisted by P. Šulc, and that proved enough to secure the points. Lyon held on to win 3-1 against Auxerre.
